Make yourself a oil level measuring tool and use the method described by AzMtnThumper. Set the fender washer on the tube at 4.6", fill the fork with oil, getting it close to where it should be, set the fender washer at 4Invert the fork tubes and pump the tubes up & down to pump the old fork oil out and let drain for a couple of minutes in a drain pan. Add 12.5 to 15wt. fork oil which will be measured from the top of the oil level to the top of the fork leg. (approx. 150mm), it took a little more than 1 qt. per leg on mine. 2092 posts · Joined 2012. #3 · Feb 5, 2019. I’m a 140lbs so I went with the 5w Honda fork oil. I used OEM fork seals. As stated as above since your a heavier rider you should use 10w. As far as the fork oil you use is like asking what oil we all use for our bikes. To each their own. Yeah replace the dust and oil seals and run 5-10w oil in the forks. (US). I poured that much in, worked the outer tube and damper a number of times, then measured the height of the oil column, and found that it was more than an inch high. So I sucked the oil out to bring it back into spec (4.1 inches from the top of the fork).
